Have you ever struggled to find parking at The Constantia Village?
The majority of our customers say they have - and they've asked us to do something about it!
The Constantia Village is party to a servitude agreement with the Constantia Property Owners Association (CPOA).
"Since inception, we have partnered with the community in giving them the kind of shopping centre they wanted; one that would provide convenience while having a minimum impact on what makes Constantia so special; the trees, vineyards and relaxed country feel".
The servitude agreement only allows for a certain number of parking bays and the centre is not at liberty to simply extend without the agreement of the CPOA.
The servitude agreement can be amended with the consent of property owners in fact, it was adapted in 1999 when the fashion wing was added to the centre. And now that The Constantia Village has put forward a parking-garage proposal, the CPOA is planning to put this latest development to the vote.
The centre analysed 5 different sites and possible parking options before settling on the current proposal. This is by far the best option, both practically and aesthetically.
The proposed 3-level parking will be on the 'Exclusive Books' side of the centre. The levelling of the sloping land and the addition of a small retail extension will assist in screening the parking and in maintaining the current ambience of the centre.
The parking garage will not only offer an additional 276 bays for the use of current customers but will provide undercover parking and a roofed link to the centre.

A scale model of the proposed parking garage, plans plus an artist's impression will be on display in the centre from Monday 13 October.
The CPOA will hold an information evening at 19:30 on 29 October 2008 in the Alphen Centre Hall.

You can also visit the architectural display in The Constantia Village from 13 - 28 October, or the CPOA offices where membership application forms will be available. Membership of the Constantia Property Owners Association is exclusively for homeowners in the Constantia Valley.
How can you cast your vote?
Any paid-up member of the CPOA is eligible to vote. Two persons will be allowed a vote for a household membership and one person for a single membership.
The CPOA office will be the ballot venue and you can cast your vote any time between 8:30 and 12:00 on Thursday, 6, Friday, 7 or Saturday, 8 November.
